FLORIDA — A Florida teacher was caught on video grabbing a student by the neck with his hands behind her back, then slamming her head against a wall before leaving a classroom with the victim.
A video posted to social media shows the 15-year-old student, identified by a sheriff’s office as Lacey Travaglia, being taken from her classroom in Collier County, Fla., on Oct. 7 and forced into a van.
The video shows Travgalias assistant and other students dragging her and pushing her into a waiting van.
Trava was arrested at the scene, and her family has been told that she is facing assault charges.
The sheriff’s department said in a statement that the van pulled up in front of the Travgals’ home, and when the woman tried to stop the van, it started moving forward.
Travagli was arrested and booked into the Collier county jail.
She was released from jail on her own recognizance, but is not allowed to leave the county.
A judge issued an arrest warrant for her on Friday, according to a sheriff.
She had a warrant for failing to comply with a protective order, but no further details were immediately available.
The Collier school district said in an emailed statement to Fox News that the incident is “in no way representative of our school.”
The school district’s statement added that it is “aware of the video and will work with the Colliers County Sheriff’s Office to make sure that this does not happen again.”
