More than 150 Illinois school closures have been announced this year, including at least a dozen in recent weeks.
Many of the closures have come as a result of severe weather, including the deadly blizzard that struck Illinois on February 20.
On Monday, the Chicago Public Schools announced that all school closets would be shuttered on February 23, 2019.
On February 26, Chicago Public schools announced that it would be closing all public school facilities and services.
On March 12, the Illinois State Board of Education announced that schools would be closed on March 19 and 20.
School closings across the country have been occurring at a rapid pace this year.
Some states have seen the number of closures exceed the number that have been reported by the United States Department of Education.
Some closures have already taken place, such as at St. Mary’s School in Texas, which closed last week and is not expected to reopen until early 2019.
